Mac users do not synchronize the password

Symptoms

Users are provisioned to the system, but passwords are not updated or synchronized with the JumpCloud password.

Cause

The user account has opted in to authenticating with their Apple ID. The agent does not currently support synchronization with Apple IDs

Solution

If a user currently uses their Apple ID password to log in to their device, but wishes JumpCloud to manage their password, the user can:

  1. Go to the User & Groups Preference Pane
  2. Select Change/Reset Password
  3. Select "Use Separate Password..."
After this happens, you'll need to force a resync of user configuration to the device, and either the end user or an administrator can do this.

End User
  1. Go to https://console.jumpcloud.com/login
  2. Enter the user's email and password and click "User Login"
  3. Change the user's name, password, or SSH key

Administrator
  1. Go to https://console.jumpcloud.com/login
  2. Make any change to the user configuration and save.
Either of those operations will force new configuration information to be sent to the device from JumpCloud.
